  • What Parents Need to Know About: Take Your Child to Work Day
    04/08/2014 by Julie Bixler
Take Your Child to Work Day is a meaningful, popular event with students and parents from Marysville Public Schools. So that our District doesn't fall below the 75% attendance requirement, and per the recommendation and advisement of the Michigan Department of Education, a grade appropriate paper or report should be required of all students if a parent is choosing to have their child/children take part in Take Your Child to Work Day.
In order for the District to mark students excused for field trip/school business purposes on Take Your Child to Work Day, scheduled for Thursday, April 24, the District will be requiring all students to turn in a paper, report, or short summary of what the child did or learned during their experience.
Those students who were absent on Thursday, April 24 for the purpose of Take Your Child to Work Day that do not comply with the State and/or District's expectations as indicated above will be marked absent. It is understood that some students may be out this day for other reasons and parents are encouraged to follow normal absence reporting policies in those instances.
We hope the day is enjoyable for all who choose to participate. The District understands and appreciates this very popular event, but must remain in compliance with State attendance rules. Any questions should be directed to your child's school office.
    THANK YOU!
  • Snow Day Make-Up Day NEWS

We want to share with all of you for planning purposes our schedule for making up “snow days” this school year.
As you know, we have had a historic winter in Michigan.  We are allowed the equivalent of 6 days then we must make up days and hours.  It’s important to note we have to have a minimum number of days and a minimum number of hours in our district.  Every district in the State will have some variance and their own unique circumstances as to what number of days and hours will have to be made up but ALL are only allowed 6 days.  I indicate this because in our own county, you will likely see a variety of different last day of school schedules for students and staff.
Our reality is we must make up 2 days district-wide and 2.5 days at Morton Elementary.
We will have full-day sessions K-12 on Wednesday, June 11 AND Thursday, June 12.
We will have half or .5 day sessions on Friday, June 13 AND Monday, June 16.

Essentially, the .5 days regularly scheduled for the 11th and 12th will now take place on the 13th and 16th
Morton Elementary School ONLY will be in session for a .5 day on Tuesday, June 17.
Parents and families, we thank you in advance for your commitment to having your students in school on these make up days.  Did you know that by State Law we must have at least 75% of our students in school on any given day for the day to count as an official day of instruction?  We are not concerned as we know you value your child being at school.  Each school will also be communicating individually regarding the make- up days in their communications.
