Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
Every student deserves the opportunity to thrive, and federal laws are in place to make that possible. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the cornerstone of special education, guaranteeing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that is customized to help students succeed. Supported by the equity-focused goals of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), families and educators work collaboratively to maximize each child's potential. We are here to help you navigate these rights, ensuring your child receives the specialized instruction and services they deserve

IEP Procedures
AnIndividualized Education Program (IEP) is a legally required, personalized plan developed for students with disabilities, ages 3 through 25, to ensure they receive a free and appropriate public education tailored to their unique needs. This written document is created through a collaborative process involving educators, specialists, and the student’s family, and is designed to support both academic achievement and functional development. The IEP outlines the student’s present levels of performance, establishes measurable annual goals, and identifies the specific programs, services, accommodations, and supports that the Intermediate School District (ISD) and/or its member district will provide. By clearly defining expectations and resources, the IEP serves as a roadmap to help each student access the curriculum, build independence, and make meaningful educational progress over time.
